so I’m just thinking out loud here , what if....

So I have a filstar canister filter rated for 40 gallons or something like that

I also have a Eshop psk 100 hob skimmer (rates for 100 gallons)

And i have it set up on a 40 gallon tank , just wondering if it’s a good / bad idea to use these as my filtration on a 75 gallon tank (possible upgrade) obviously I’ll have to up my game on bigger water changes to compensate for the canister filter but I assume this is possible

I do plan on a year or sooner after the upgrade (if I do) I would add a sump and a hob overflow .

Any thoughts ?

I think together should be ok for that size setup. You are getting mechanical filtration, and skimming over rating, i think together should be fine until upgrade.
