Test kits

I am looking for a Magneseum Test kit as well as a KH. Anybody using the SeaChem Mag/KH/ALK/Borate test kit or is there something else, I use the API KH bottle now so no biggie 8.99 but Magneseum that's different, Or perhaps the Red Sea kit. Thanks as always

I found API KH good enough for a starter. My test kit matched Salifert and its verification fluid. Salifert has better accuracy. After I use up this Salifert kit, I will probably buy a Hanna Alk Checker. I have read a lot of good reviews about it.

For Magnesium I use Red Sea. Their posted accuracy could be argued, but overall I am happy with the kit.

I've got that Seachem kit, it's a bit onerous to measure Mag with it but I haven't tried any other kits for comparison.  I have found that the alk portion of the kit always gives different results then my API KH kit and Hanna Checker (which both match closely).

I have the Red Sea kits for calcium and nitrates, and I love them.  If their mag kit is similar, it would probably be a big improvement over the Seachem kit.

My testing kits:

Cal: Salifert (I have the Hanna one for this but it is about as useful as a third nipple)
Mg: Salifert
Nitrate: Salifert
pH: Salifert

Phosphate: Hanna
Phosphorus: Hanna
Alk: Hanna (I also have the Salifert one too)

I used to use the Seachem Mag test before I got the Red Sea, I VASTLY prefer the Red Sea.  The Seachem has many many steps and is just a big PITA.

It works fine but there's a lot of steps.  I just find that I don't test as often if a test is complicated.
