So i was planning on putting all my livestockand liverock from my 75 into my 135. I tested my alk to see where i was at in the new tank and its at 11.4, my current display is kept around 8ish.. what do i do? Is this something to worry about? Do i now need to raise the alk in my current display slowly before i can make the switch.. thanks
Riley.

Will bringing over all the old water help balance things out a bit?
Still going to be a shock imo.

I'd raise the 75 with your regular alk additive. Raise it to about 10 -10.5 over three to four days. Then allow it to sit for an additional day at that level. Then begin your move with your old water as well.

When I did my switch I filled the new tank 3/4 of the way with freshly mixed IO and then used the water from my 90 to bring it the rest of the way. Fresh IO mixes at about 11 and I kept my 90 at 7-8. I didn't bother to measure the alk in the new tank until a week after the switch. My corals took off in growth during that week, so I knew the parameters must have been ok.... but I was shocked to see that my alk was 6-point-something. By all calculations the alk should have been much higher, but because of the new growth it had already been consumed.

Food for thought...

In ideal scenarios the alk should be matched but if they aren't it might not be that big of a deal.
