System Almost there!!!

Hey guys I got the tank plumbed up and just having trouble setting my coast to coast overflow with bean animal overflow.. Having problem setting my valves and keeping a steady flow... Anyone in town that can help me let me know?

are the top of your 3 overflows at 3 diff heights?
i will gladly help if i can .. i would like to see that tank running..

What sort of problem you having, it's critical that the drain pipes are only submerged about 1/2" to 1" into the sump or you will have trouble starting the siphon.
Better to use a gate valve for the drain for better control.

Hey guys, System is almost there, I had some trouble with the plumbing, glueing stuff and testing for leaks was a bitch!!!!! So now the tank is leak freee and running with fresh water in it.

Time to start making RO/DI water, and put some sand in, and start designing my rock work...... Freaking PUMPPEDD!!!!!! :drool:

I need some help with tweaking my overflow stand pipes, My system is a bit loud, I don't have caps on my pipes so its kinda loud? I need some help with my standpipes in my overflow box, Besides that system is ready to go...


Light is hung......    Check
Sump.......    Check
Backing is put on display...... Check
plumbing, No leaks, supports for pipes...... Check


If anyone has a good idea with the bean animal systems let me kno... Could use some advise or maybe even a check over?

For the beananimal overflow to work you have to cap at least one of the two pipes that has a downturned elbow.  Otherwise it won't siphon.  Once you have that done, you can use a gate or ball valve to tune the amount of flow through the siphon pipe.  you'll want to tune it so that only a minute amount of water goes down the other standpipe with downturned elbow - should be just enough water to basically line the sides of the pipe.  This will minimize the noise created.  I have some pics of how I plumbed my tank with a beananimal overflow. 

The loudest parts of my system are the sloshing of the wave created by my wavebox, and my skimmer pump.

mine has 2 with overturned elbows and the 3rd on is wide open just at a line above the oberturned elbow.    both with the elbows have caps with no holes  benn running for a year now

Your is an external overflow box with the pipe coming up from underneathe, i think.

---------------Full Siphon------------------ height

Set the Emerg Drain an inch below you max tank level.
Set your Open Drain an inch below where the water flows into the over flow.
Set your Full Siphon 3-4 inches below your open. (Or as far as it needs to be to not create a whirlpool.)

Open all your drain valves all the way.
Start the system up. (Will get a lot of suction noise happening and bubbles downstairs.)
Pinch in the Siphon drain line until the water starts to rise in the overflow box.
Let it rise until it spills over intot he Open drain.
If the open drain is being noisey you prob have too much water going down it
Open the make siphon up just a bit until there is a trickle(or a quiet) amount of water goig down the Open.

You are now set up.
