Hey guys I got water finally going in the new setup :) I just find it very noisy from the drain pipe when the water dumps into sump should a put a valve on it and reduce the flow ? It’s sitting just above the waterline in sump now please help lol

I tried everything. Always noisy.
Ended up with a pipe into the water with 1/2 inch holes in it every couple inches.
Helped even more with it draining into a sock.
Ideally it’s the air making the noise. If you can throttle back the return pump to match the flow rate returning to the sump you will have silence. This is a very fine point. Tough to dial in
Not a fan of a valve on return for fear of blockage.

Good luck.

My return line just drops in to the sump with a 1” above water so when water hits the sump it’s just splashing in ahhhhh

Just one drain and one return

That is the hardest to silence, but it can be done. I just did a single drain on my 40 cube that I recently sold and it ran dead silent. What you want is called a Stockman Standpipe. You will need a ball on the drain under the tank and on the return pump to make it work perfectly. You do not need to dismantle a union like in the video for the rubber stopper. Just a thick elastic will work, or a proper size tight O-Ring.
