Can anyone tell me my best route for a sump tank, whether it be buying a brand new one or having one custom built etc.. i can only fot a mac tank with a width of 16inches.. because i have have a 16.5" clearance between 2×4s. Also note that i have dual overflows in the bottome corners.l, i dont know if thatll effect layout or build.

I never bother with baffles in my tanks.
They just get in the way and you have more freedom without.
My drains go to one end ( dual corner) and my equipment is placed  all over the sump and the return pump is on the other end.

Easiest way to do it. And I think Jewels brand new 40g breeder is def the way to go.

Sections allow for a few things tho, one thing is bubble traps. And secondly if you want to have rock or a refugium it's best to segregate it from your skimmer compartment so nothing gets sucked up and messes with your skimmer.

I agree with the baffles. less bubbles on a smaller sump. I broke my sump into two tanks, one acrylic and one BA glass tank. I am really happy with the layout and gave me more water volume.

i have 1 baffle to keep skimmer water at the same level and jut a flow through blocker so stuff doesnt get in my return pump.. run both your overflows to the skimmer section and put valves on them to control sound.. super simple... if thats what you r looking for
+1 to the 40 breeder
