Starting the new project. Once i got a groove going it wasnt too bad, still a pain tho. Now i have to get another tube pf silicone. Is there stuff you can buy at local hardware stores or am i better off going to a lfs and getting aquarium silicone. Already have one 10.3 oz tube, how many more do you think ill need? Thanks.

Whatever you are going to use, please consider analyzing the strength in cured state. For small tanks or baffles in sumps, low or medium strength may be okay.  For large tanks would be different.

99% is what you want.
your goal is to use the alcohol to clean the surface and make a really good bond.. you clean, wipe with alcohol let it dry then goto work. even finger prints will wreck the bond and make it not stick.

The alcohol will clean up any residue of grease or greaseyness, It will evaporate, Isyproponol is good, You want a nice clean area to put the Silicone on. The hard part is done, take your time and do a good job and re :)member it doesn't have to be perfect. I'm telling you I couldn't do any better than you.Just get it all done at once, I mean the stuff will take days to cure and you can take breaks but it goes on good. It won't take long. Like don't do some today and the rest tomorrow. I know that sounds dumb but it's been done. LOL Glad you're doing it. you'll be happy you did.  :)

+1 on the SCS1200, the silicone that is between the panes is what is holding the tank together, the stuff your putting on is to protect it, tape the corners to get a nice line, don't over do it with the silicone so you don't leave a ridge when you do the finger wipe and remove the tape right away.
Remember, once you start putting the silicone on, you only have a few minutes before it starts to skim, have one guy applying the silicone and one guy doing the finger wipe, it will take too long for one guy to apply the silicone and do the finger wipe on a tank that large.

The tube i have says same strength silicone used to manufacture tanks. And this a beastly 6×2×2 180 gallon. So thisstuff will be suitable?

Your sealant should be Okay. I used the same silicone that Pulpfiction posted. I bought it from Pets & Ponds.

Verify if there is an expiring date on the tube. Make sure is perfect clean, no old silicone residues. New sealant on old silicone does not have good adhesion. After sealing, let tank cure for several days before use.
