Hey guys. I know some of you have experience with the vertex in80. You think its good enouph for a 75gallon? any other suggestions?

Hey...

I would personally go with the vertex IN-100 over the IN-80. Its always better to over skim then to under skim.

Yup when it comes to skimmers get the biggest most efficient one you can afford (use common sense of course).
The skimmer I'm running on my 65 Gal. is rated for up to 175 gal. thats a light to medium rating (I assume?).

upon further research, I think ive decided to do one of 2 things
1-modify my current skimmer-add recirculating pump
2-DIY baby!

this is not true you can never over skim. yes you can over skimming is just as bad as under skimming specially with corals some people don't even use skimmers check out sames pampered pets in bell river he never use to use a skimmer on any of his tanks. but i would not do this get a skimmer rated for your set up don't go to big

its true, but also its not :p it all depends on what one plans on keeping in their tank. corals like xenia like high nutrient water=less skimming. sps on the other hand need low nutrient

I agree I have yet to see anyone having problems with skimmers rated for larger than their actual systems. For Instance I ran a ETSS reef devil skimmer (rated for 180g) on my biocube 29 with sump (40g). ORP was always good and the system was bulletproof and I could miss/delay water changes with less consequence.

So, my xenia has shrunk because I am such a good reef keeper?!?!  I wonder if it shrunk when I got my phsban reactor.....hmmmmm.....  Oh well, everything else is happy, no complaints - the xenia can go in the nano.

I use a turboflotor on my 75g and I quite like it.  Though DIY is always more fun.
