so I wa splaying vid in the other room while my gf came to me in a panic and I left 1/4 of my glass lid open when I was feeding my fish and forgot about it for 40 min , and I couldn’t find my wrasse I looked everywhere and pulled everything from under the metal stand and nothing , no water splash other then the 2 spots in front of the tank , standing poking the sand to see if my wrasse was in there nothin .. then as I walked away I seen him flopping in my cats litter box (no marks on him but half covered in cat litter)

So then my brain shut off my gf picked him up as I grabbed a bucket to rinse him quick but it was ro water not salt , he fell in I quicker grabbed him and put him back in the tank . This must have been a good 10 min .... he looked stressed as hell but his gills are moving .. he swam and hid . Didn’t belly up seem maybe ok ? To early to tell . He still has litter and it’s in the tank on him still .. probably going to cause an issue . Do any of you think he will live ?

He’s a yellow purple tail wrasse .

Wow, what a story. If your little guy lives you will have quite a tale to tell for years to come! My fingers are crossed and, of course, only time will tell. He may be a very resilient fish.

So update if anyone is following .. I seen him under the sand sleeping where he has been since I made the thread . So I though he was dead so I got my pointer stick , poked around and he woke up (my lights don’t turn on till 2) and he came out but was resting on the sand breathing , unfortunately he popped up right where my tangs cave is and my tang wasn’t really awake yet and was all up in my wrasses face so he Hid under the sand again ..

Thing might not be looking good but he’s obviously alive right ?

Is it normal if he will act like this for a few more days ?

I would just leave him alone and he should be fine.
I have a lawnmower blenny that jumped into a bucket of RO water and was in there at least 2 hours could have been 10 until I found him and dumped him back into the tank. He’s still going strong. It’s been like over 2 years.

I agree with @Nonuser and just let him reaccclimate on his own time. No need for poking or prodding
Sounds like he is fine - just shaken up from the litter experience

Thanks eceryone , I really appreciate all your advice and thoughts . Ion really rattled from this one because it was 100% my fault I’ve had it since he was a wee baby and now his white belly is in .. poor guy , lesson learned for me ... I’ll keep updating this when I see he’s doing better orworst

I had a six line jump out after leaving the screen cover off, my wife found him and thought it was dead but we put him in a fish net to swish it around to get air passing through the gills and sure enough he was resuscitated. While you would think this was a happy ending, stupid me left the screen off again a month later and sure enough he jumped out again. This time when we found it he was pretty dried out :(
So, my advice is, if it has survived this long, Im sure it will be fine....just keep the lid on. As for me, my wife hasn’t allowed me to get another wrasse...I still sometimes forget the screen...you’d think I’d learned...

Haha @Kevin Tran we just came home after spending family day with her and her family and she was better when this morning we knew he was still alive and now he’s back to him old self ! I fed him and he was eating and swimming !

She’s still mad at me and if this happens again I’ll be dead .. we seriously avoided a disaster, don’t want to dance with the devil again .
