So ive always read about people modding the reactors for pellets use. What do i have to do to my Kent reactor to make it useable for biopellets. And if i were to run GFO and biopellets off one pump, is this possible? Pellets first then GFO?Thanks.

Hey Riley,
To be honest, the Kent reactor is certainly not the best choice for BioPellets as a recirculating reactor works much better but it can be done. You will need to get some plastic screening to put at the top and bottom (remove the foam). Without the plastic screening the pellets will get through the grid that is currently in the Kent reactor. The plastic screens can be purchased at Michaels (in the knitting section I believe) and cut to size.
As for running the GFO and Pellets in a dual reactor off the same pump, I don't suggest it. First off, the BioPellets will need a much higher flow rate than the GFO to get them tumbling properly and it's going to be near impossible to give both the flow rate they need with such a setup. Second, the bacteria and slime that comes off the bioPellets will clog up your GFO if ran consecutively.
I would suggest running them off separate pumps.
Hope this helps....

You want to run biopellets in one of these:

That is litterally exactly the same as a Two Little Fish 150 (TLF 150) reactor. The design is identical.

if you want to run biopellets I recommend doing the Bio pellet mod though.

You will need a dedicated pump for these. Some people have luck with MJ1200's I never did. They never tumbled properly so I use a mag 12 in a tree setup and I run all three reactors off one pump. (GFO, Carbon and BP)

Looks like the same one to me. Might have to wait to get the 135g up since i dont have any space for more pumps in my tank since this one is currently sumpless. Thanks.

And thts basically how i have the kent set up for pellet use minus the teflon tape and the screen. I guess ill just grab plastic screening like stace said and use that.
