RO issues

Hey guys i have a few things that need solving...

Problem # 1
i have two, dual inline tds meters.
my ro unit is setup like this:
                                                180                                    250                                  13                                                0
prefilter, prefilter, prefilter, ---- tds-----carbon filter x2---- tds----- RO membrane----- tds------ dual resin canisters----tds

why on earth does the carbon filters RAISE the tds???

Problem # 2

my di resin, colour changing, doesnt last 200gallons before its done..... i put a new canister in mar 26 and its almost completely done already today... pisses me off its supposed to last much longer... why would it be colour changing so quick?
on mar. 26 i also put in a new ro membrane and changed out one of the micro filters.

Problem # 3

When my ro system gets restarted after a couple days of being off the tds is 10-20 for a good 10 min before it drops down to 0 again... and stays at zero....  any reason for that?

Problem # 4

My water changes raise my tank to 0.26 PO4,
right before my tank is due for a water change my PO4 reads 0.06

Im guessing this leads back to the ro unit some how...

should i run gfo as part of my R/O unit?

My rodi unit runs at 10 tds web i start it up let it run for 2 minutes and it's at 0. Pretty sure your number 3 problem isn't a problem, I think all units do that.

mine goes up to 8 then drops down to 0 in a minute    ..i have the 100gpd unit tho

my di resin last almost a full year .. You said yours is done after 200 gallons that is kinda odd.

Hey brandon, is it after 200 gallons you arent getting 0tds? or after 200 gallons its changing colour? Just because it changed colour doesnt mean its all used up

well when i bought it the guy said he just change the di, and it was all green, then after about 100gallons it changed to brown and then my tds went up to 10 or so, so i changed it and now its almost all brown again, in both filters ( i only changed 1 filter, )
but my tds is still 0

Are you sure the unit is shutting off? I shut my good water off, but it was still processing water through the unit and then poured down the drain a waste water because the auto shut off was not shutting off.

ya but the waste line is after the ro membrane, no way it could go through the di resin

I mean, have you checked the waste line after you shut the unit off? Or do you turn the main water source off?

no i actually turn a switch off at the end of the unit, where the 0 tds water comes out, with the auto shutoff i thought it was supposed to pressurize the unit and shut it off

Do not assume. Mine didn't shut off. How much pressure are you reading?

No idea, don't have a pressure gauge, I know I'm a bit underrated for psi, my unit is 100gpd and I do 100g in just under 2.

Yup, check you waste water line with the unit off.

i am wondering if your flow restrictor is matched to your membrane,some people replace these with the membrane
