Not sure if this classifies as "general reef discussion" or not so feel free to move it if needed.
I took our family of 6 to the big tanks today, and I have to be honest, it was neat, but not what I expected.
While we all had a great time, I felt the reef parts were not up to the standard I thought they would be, lacking colour mainly. Anyway, just wondering if anyone else had views on it. We spent 170 total for 3 adult and 3 kids. I now have no coral bank left lol. The frac towers were huge!

Going to ripley's is on my to do, wish list. I feel your pain, my fish budget has been in the toilet for awhile now and I don't see changing anytime soon..

I would have enjoyed it more without my kids...and wife. It is fairly new, give it time. Their focus is obviously the fish and not corals.

i found the same thing they have budget for huge sharks and amazing displays but in the reef department the cheaped out. i am sure in time it will look better but they could have upscaled the tiny reef tank a little.

Not hard to budget for sharks. They like baby chicks and ducklings at Easter. Everyone buys em small and forgets they grow up

one of these days i will make it but yes their focus is the fish the boy had a blast when he went.... maybe since its taken off so big they will expand a reef section into something nice

i went there on sunday. was impressed overall. the reef tank itself not impressed. mainly because of lack reef tank. i like size but it really wasnt there. definitely a must see. rediculously busy

They won't make money appealing to the small hardcore reefing crowd. The mass market are the people that come to our houses and ooh and ahh over the blue tang and green star polyps. LOL

Overall yes, it was impressive, and yes I knew it would be busy due to March Break. Don't get me wrong, we all had a great time, I just expected more reef!!

I could have stared at the reef all day long lol. My kids liked the jellyfish. Of course they did. I might go back by myself and bring a chair to stare at the reef all day
