Hey just curious about anyone else who got one of Rick's bright green with orange eyes chalice frags...

Got it, and it was as pictured in his post (actually his frags always look better than in the pics...a welcome change  ::) )

A little bit later, mine had turned orange other than a green growing edge...

Now that my water conditions have improved and growth in everything has really picked up it looks like this..

Absolutely no complaints about it  ;) and the eyes are brighter purple than the pictures show, just curious...is it my water conditions or lighting or ? that caused the change?  Or is that just the way that particular coral develops?

I would love to see some pics from some of you guys who got frags of the same piece, to see how different conditions affect coloration.

Some mummy eyes do morph to orange under certain conditions......my tyree original mummy eye is mostly orange.

I think it looks great though.

There's also a chance that it was indeed an orange chalice, and had been stressed over moving/temps/ etc before it got to rick, and now it's recovering?  I didn't buy the green chalice but I would have bought that one, looks fantastic.

I had this chalice.. it had some yellow/orange tone for a while but was green mostly the whole time I had it.. unfortunately my duncans fell on it and I didn't notice for 3 days this summer.. its now gone, its too bad too because it was growing pretty good and looked awesome.

here it was around a month after I got it.

That is a nice one Rick.  Some of these green mummy eye chalices morph to orange under high light........you probably have yours under less light.

I was a little disappointed when it first turned straight orange, but when the purple eyes and yellow streaks came out giving it that lava look, it's better than the original IMO.

It was never happy in the shade for me like the alien eye.  It finally started to take off when I moved it into higher light, but it was already orange by that point.
