Return Pump

I have a mastercraft 1/4 hp utility pump from canadian tire aprox 1350 GPH and was wondering if anyone has ever used one as a return pump in their tank. I have used one in pump Koi pond before without any issues but have never heard of one in salt water. Just looking for opinions. The pump is fully submersible

Unless the pump is rated for SW you will have to take a close look at the materials in it. For example many grades of stainless steel that will last forever in FW will corrode rapidly in SW. Also many pumps meant for FW use have brass components that will shed zinc and copper in SW.

im guessing it will rust and or seals will degrade...
