how often do you cleanout your external coast to coast overflow?
mine is running about a month and although it isnt nasty looking i do see
crap starting to build up on the glass when i shut my pump down for feeding

I don't have an external overflow, but I find myself cleaning my overflow (elbow upside down on both tanks) every 2 weeks. I have egg crate wedged in drain to prevent fish from going down the water slide, gets gummed up quickly.

i have cleaned mine out when its fully brislte worms amd food.  i put a sock at the end pipes in sump and take the peices off that is part of the herbie. a d turn pump on and use a paintbrush and toothbrush and scrub it clean as it goes down one pipe. full blast ..impull out the blacj acrylic tooth board amd scrubb it

I would imagine when it get clogged up, I think they act as a mini Fuge. But if it's unsightly you may want to clean it more often.
