Soak for a long ass time. I am sure there is a way to clean them with acid that has been done here. "Researchers have found that dryer vents can emit more than 25 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) when scented laundry detergent and dryer sheets are used, including seven VOCs classified as hazardous air pollutants. This is particularly concerning when dryers don’t vent outside or are blocked, causing indoor air pollution." Just because it is fine for us and our clothes, probably not so good for our fish.

I would thoroughly soak and rinse the rock a few times in tap water treated with prime or amquelplus.

Yes...muric acid is what I was thinking about. depending on the ingredients in the detergent, it could be some nasties for sure. Some even still contain chlorine and other forms of bleach. It would help if we knew what kind it was as the ingredients matter.

purex liquid is supposed to be phosphate free, I would rinse it several times thoroughly in treated tap water and soak it in clean salt water, most soaps are a base so some vinegar in the rinse water should neutralize it.
