My main pump had been acting up lately, not coming back online sometimes after doing a Apex feeding. I ruled out the apex, so decided to get another pump before disaster strikes when I'm not around.

So yesterday around 1pm I start thinking I will be done early afternoon. Nope!

First the pipe output threads are different, 1 1/4 on my old pump and 1 1/2 on the new.
Then the height of the pump to tank was too short. So I decided to change all the plumbing because I wanted to include a manifold with gate valves to control flow to my uv sterilizer and my carbon/gfo canisters. I have the Apex flow monitor so I wanted to get these into the setup.

Doing this I cut a pvc pipe with my sawzall to save time, we'll the vibration sprung a leak on my return overflow. Had to re silicone this and it's drying now overnight.

Got this done and went to connect the pump to the fittings it is some off standard ( meaning not home depot or Lowes) thread on the pump (jebao 15000) and won't thread on properly. At this point I was so frustrated and tired I brought out the acetylene torch, heater that son of a bitch up and screwed them together fast. The good news is it is connected the bad news is it is never ever ever coming apart. Good thing I have unions everywhere I guess.

Now the cool part. On my current tank it has been up for about 5 years. I cycled it with damsels, one of the three lived through my subsequent tank crash but he was an asshole so I put him in the sump about 4 years ago. I have not seen him in those 4 years until today, draining the tank I found him. After surviving in the sump all those years, I rewarded him with a new home back In the main tank. Hopefully his attitude is better now :)

So tomorrow I will be testing the fittings once the glue is dried and redoing all the wiring and making it look neat and tidy again. It seems to have spider nested itself since I hooked it all up originally, it used to be pretty :)

So my 3 hour job will be going on day 3 tomorrow :-/

Well, I hope it works out for you, but its like I have always said 1 hour our time is 2 hours in ReefLand, so you say 3 hours well loos like a full day and overtime.

Sounds like a real pita. If only all the pumps came with the same fittings. I dont think I have ever taken as long as I thought I would on any hobby project lol.
The sawzill part is intense! But I would have done the same. Sawzills are for every cutting job o_Oo_O

Well I'm done finally, 3 days later :). Everything is working and appears to be leak free.

I am very happy to have sump "real estate" back by removing two pumps that were powering my uv unit and carbon/gfo. They are now powered by my manifold that runs off the main pump. I also took the time to hook up my Apex flow monitor 1/2" units on the uv and carbon lines so I can control flow.

When I originally setup my tank my electrical lines were sharp and on point, but over time they grew back into a spider Web. I managed to get them back to a respectable level where I am not tripping over them.

I also realized my gfo port was setup wrong, the input was "out" and the "out" was in. Fixed that up too....

Now on to the next project...
