This may be a dumb question, but is this coralline algae? I started cycling with dry rock just over 4 weeks ago and added some very small pieces of coralline covered live rock 2 weeks ago. I just put a CUC in and they're cleaning up the rock really good, then this bright green, almost yellow started appearing on the rock. Tried rubbing it off to see if it was slime algae but it doesn't come off

Depending on where you got your dryrock, I would guess that it's the start of hair algae. Coralline usually starts from small points and grows outwards in a more or less circular patterns.

Sometimes when you start up with new rock you will get lots of different algaes on the rocks before coralline shows up, yellows, greens, reds, just as long as the cuc keeps on it the purple will grow eventually
