That tank was from 3 months ago. He has done a second predator tank a month ago, mostly with stingrays and a huge Vlamingi Tang. Some rich kid blowing mommys money. It is the same tank, just new fish. Just like this video >:-/

There are some comments...including mine. He lost everything in this tank within a month. Now he has a second tank that has been going for a month. That is just as poorly stocked

and I wonder why...there are so many variables.. the main one being fish that don't fit the tank or a tank that doesn't fit the fish...

We have a client like this who insists on overcrowding his tank. I recently got in a dispute with him because I refused to import anymore fish for him. He told me he "loves" fish so much. I said no, you love yourself so much because if you truly loved fish you would respect the fact that they are already taken out of their natural environment so the least you can do is provide the best home for them as possible. He kills so many fish from overcrowding or incompatibility and just shrugs it off and buys more fish. Drives me crazy when I see this kind of stuff! ARGH
All the more reason for marine aquarists to go scuba diving. I think once you see the world these fish are taken from up close you will develop a whole new respect for them.

I totally agree, not that I am ever going scuba diving.. the sad part is tho he will find another retailer to buy from.. you just educate some people... I find it very disturbing when I have to fish out a dead one, that I have failed them and its my fault they died...

It may sound crazy but we have a responsibility to these animals or any pet really. If we're going to remove an animal from its natural environment we should at least have the decency to provide an adequate home for them. People who purchase fish as an impulse buy or give no thought as to if they have the right size tank or lighting etc. don't get the true meaning of this hobby.

Well if you want to be honest 99% of fish even the smallest is in too small of a tank in 99% of the hobby. The fish all live in a vast ocean that is almost unlimited in space for them.

This is an extreme representation

Same can be said for any pet. Or 90% of the population in china

That is true but you'd be surprised how many species of fish live their entire lives within a space of only a few square feet and never venture out past their small territory. Certain gobies, royal grammas to name a few.

The great thing about this thread is i hope some of the members here realize how important it is to... choose your fish for the size of your tank.... don't over crowd your tank... and to go sloooow and don't build your reef to fast. I know many of us would love to have certain fish in our aquariums but in reality not a great idea. Thanks dale for posting this thread. I think it's a great lesson for everyone!
