well after some good advice from the members here about new return pumps of power heads etc etc, I pulled the trigger on a new maxspect gyre. My issue is that I can't put it horizontally because of the corner overflows on my 150 g. I took a flier figuring I could sell it for almost what I paid if it's barely used and lose the tax.

I put it in my tank and disconnected the 2 Ecotech MP40s I've had running for about a year.

I've been told not to try the 2 way gyre until it breaks in, which is a couple weeks.

I turned it on and it's dead quiet. I've been told the newer versions are much better than the first one to be put out and let me tell you. I couldn't believe how quiet it is.

I started it super low and gradually moved up the push to about 70% which is way too much in my 6 ft tank for the lps. It's running at 50% right now and I can't hear it lol. The amount of crap that came into the water column was something I was amazed at. Dust, detritus, fish poo and just mess came blowing out. Water is cleared up now after an hour or so, and the fish actually horse around in the flow!

It's running vertically about 4" below the waters surface. And I have to say another week of this and the mp40s are going on eBay.

Sounds like some great results mounting it vertically. Now you just have to figure out how to upload a video of it to youtube so that we can post it and go viral with all the other people looking for the same information.

That is why I stopped selling my cables on eBay. I was loosing 25-35% on my sale due to fees.

I'm glad you are happy with yours, I am as well but do get some more vibration out of mine than I would have liked, might have something to do with the thickness of the glass on my setup. Going to tinker with it tonight.
