I am on the fence with my rockscape, what do you more experienced folks think? Too high? Too much? The plan is keeping lps and a few montis, zoanthids and different kinds of mushrooms... Will have predominately small not too active fish like clown gobies, clownfish, firefish and a blenny. Any criticism is welcome :). View attachment 26805

Looks great.. clean, open layout with nice shelf space for LPS. The separation between islands will help with flow and coral placement too

Only tweak I would also suggest is offset the top plates slightly to reduce shadowing, and make sure you’ve got good flow under those shelves to avoid detritus buildup. Otherwise, solid scape.

The shadowing is a great point. I ordered some more mortar and will tackle it again. The plan is to have a dual return with random flow generators and two octo pulse 2 pumps so I can hopefully get things moving around the structures we go with.

Recently did a leak test and had a few leaks around the bulkheads. Weirdly, this overflow requires a gasket between the tank and box which causes the box to have a bit of play. My solution is to make my own gasket the size of the box to avoid any movement.

Everything else ran perfectly and I managed to get the overflow silent. The bean animal is really a great idea! The pump is great too, I have never tried a DC pump and boy it is silent and moves a good amount of water. I am looking forward to setting up the hydros system and running all the pumps off of one hub. This will also be a first for me so I am quite excited.

There will be loads of pictures and updates to come once we start working at it again, I have been really busy with work but it has calmed down again so can focus on the build.

Hopefully this gasket will prevent the overflow from shifting and causing leaks. In theory it will act as a brace too.

Built a control board today. It will have a sliding rear panel which will have the pass throughs in it. This will be where my hydros, inkbird and return pump controller will go. Just need to give it a sand and paint then add the pass throughs and then can mount it to the wall next to the tank.

Been busy figuring out my cable management. I thought I would try wire mold and I added 2 receptacles to a low shelf next to the tank so that I can route all main power away from behind the tank making it easier to get to it. The plan is to make a dummy front for the shelf and have a PC fan blowing on all my powersupplies. My main support equipment will run off of a 15amp dedicated and the rest will share the basement circuit. All my controllers will go on the controller board next the tank with grommets for the cables leading to the "chase" behind it.
