hey all, Bought a new protein skimmer and just wondering if there is a way to get rid of the overflowing and micro bubbles. It is a bubble magus curve 5 and i have it sitting in 9" of water right now. I have tried everywhere from 7 to 10 inches with same results. been running it for 4 days now in main sump and ran it for 2 days in a bucket of saltwater before that to try to break it in. any advice would be great

There are usually gate valves on the skimmer that you can fine tune with, some like a thin watery skimate and some like it thick and almost black

Some skimmers for an example Aquammaxx states their break in period which is 4-6 weeks. Check the manual to see what is their break in period.

I would move it to 8 inches as most skimmers except Reef Octopus SRO skimmers seem to prefer the 8 inch mark. There is a joke in there somewhere. Just set it and let it be, the bubbles will go away as it breaks in. It may take a little time, and those bubble will not hurt anything, some are even adding microbubbles to their tanks now.
