Anyone use or have used these led`s. I am thinking of putting the R420 16K over my nano. I am wondering if they will support coral ( lps and softs )

Have not used them but a LFS in my area has Maxspect razors over there display reef tank with a huge clam on the sandbed. They have had them probably now 2 yrs. Clams also require intense lighting so I am sure you will be okay. Look back through these threads another member here had Maxspect razors and had them melt not sure which model though just make sure they have fixed that issue.

There is a plastic section where the power cord comes out of. It was easily replaced by Max spect no questions asked.

I had two of them for a short time, I bought all the hardware for a 150 GL tank, Tank, lights, rock, sump, skimmer and then my life was turned upside down and sold it all. 2 years later and I've ordered a 27 inch Razor 16k due later this week. They will definitely support Corals and Clams. I think they make a Nano Razor now. I've wanted to switch to LED for awhile so I've been looking at everything out there and keep coming back to the Razor, They have a built in controller that's sweet. You don't see many used ones for sale, that's for sure.

I have 2X Maxspect 120W Razors over my 120g DT.  I love it.  Haven't found a coral that it can't grow yet.  My DT is mainly SPS dominated tank with a few LPS and softies.

Just be careful with these lights.  They're extremely powerful and bright.  Start off slow with the intensity and raise them very slowly.  They will burn the crap out of your corals if you're not careful.  Every time I add new frags to my tank.  I always ramp my lights down 15-20% and raise them only 5% every week until I'm back at full capacity.

I have no bad reviews for these lights at all in the 2 years I've been running them for.

If you want to see some pics of corals under these lights.  Just click the link in my signature to my tank build.  All photos taken under these lights.

I'll keep the burning issue in mind, My tank is pretty well established, sooo since they sit above the tank quite a bit, not sure maybe 10-12 inches off the water, I will still lessen the intensity to 60 percent atleast and keep an eye on everything, One thing I really like is you can control the colour and I like more blue and less white.  Thanks for that info Eric.

Mine sits at about 10"-12" above water.

60% might still be a tad bit high for the first week.  I was running 2X 175w MH with 2X HO T5's before and found it burnt pretty easily at 70%.  I'd recommend starting around the 50% range.  To be on the safe side.

These lights are amazing at color adjustments.  I actually use 10K on my tank.  As I wasn't convinced when I bought mine that it could keep up with my MH set up(hence the burning of my tank, stupid me  ).  If I were to do it over again I'd get the 16K.  With my 10K I also run 1 Weipro Actinic LED strip and 1 Vertex Illumilux MArino Blu Actinic LED strip to compensate for the 10K.  At peak with both my LED strips running I usually run my Razors at 70% white and 100% blue.  IMO its the perfect mix of color and coral growth.

I love these lights so much, I'll eventually replace my frag tank T5 light with one or two of these bad boys.

I get pretty much all my hardware from Flavio at Advanced Reef Aquatics in Milton, for a few reasons, he backs his stuff 100 percent, If for what ever reason you're not happy, I guarantee he'll make it right, He gets better prices than others and passes them on and he's an Old friend. He won't steer you wrong. Very knowledgable guy and if you just want some advice you can drop in for a chat or call him.

Another thing I got to mention, if you're thinking about purchasing them, They come with 90 degree optix I believe but they have an updated lense kit available so that the light blends better. The lenses are 15 bucks per panel. A 120 has 2 and the 160 has3 and I did order that as well. As I understand the new lenses have a white back ground which will enhance the brightness.. I won't have to supplement the light with any other fixture due to it being 16k with the updated lenses, It is a retail store. You should drop in and say Hi.

I was thinking about it, as well as I have to make it to BBFrags. I am in London at least once a month to see sea life and IA. Since joining the forum I have found out about so many stores and connections it`s amazing. I just thought there was a couple of stores in the area and that is it.

Advance reef in Milton would be your best place to buy maxspect products as he is the closest to you ( and actually carries them in stock) so any issues and he would have a replacement for you. Good guy , my distributor for maxspect is giving me trouble lately.
