I am planing on making my own fish food and want to make sure i am not doing anything wrong or if i could do something better. I bought some frozen seafood stuff from the grocery store which includes squid, shrimp, mussel meat and octopus........are these ok or benificial to feed my fish. i was going to blend that and add some reef chili, new life spectrum thera+ with garlic, and some flake food all mixed in some salt water from the tank. thoughts or opinions on this.

Thanks

Seafood Medley from Loblaws, all good stuff, throw it in a blender (only used for fish food, I picked up a cheap one from xscargo), add RO water, add some selcon, find the smallest ice cube trays you can (like the spots in the tray not actually the tray), freeze them up, throw them in a freezer bag.
I take one out and put it in a cup of tank water, add some reef chilli, and feed away.

Hope thats what you were looking for.

On a side note, that bad boy urchin is doing a great job and mowing it down!
Thanks!

The problem with adding selcon is that it only has a life of 6 months then goes bad, depending on how much u make that could be a problem

thanks for the tips guys, looking to feed better. good point on the precooked food and blender also.

I was thinking that when i freeze it i will just pour some in a ziplock freezer bag, make it kinda thin and break off some chunks. pretty sure my wife would kick my ass if i made my freezer smell like fish food.

This is exactly what I did made it really thin and just break pieces off. Best of luck

Weird idea, but maybe try pressing it onto some eggcrate on plastic wrap then freezing. Once frozen you would have breakable cubes the same size.

I like it. if i could find a way for it to not leak through the bottom you could make the ultimate fish food tray. still have the fish stank though.

Oh and stupid question but i dont hace to cook the frozen seafood befor i make or fee do I. i can put in tank raw.........

Michaels, and anywhere else that sells baking and candy making supplies sells small candy and chocolate molds (essentially they are just like ice cube trays).

They make varying sizes, but there are gum drop type sizes which work perfectly for fish food.
