i was at one of Windsor's fine lfs's today and saw a beautiful majestic angel and yes I know they say they are not reef safe. I also read on live aquaria that they tend to not bother SPS coral. I am about to be upgrading to a larger tank and have been really thinking about angel. The only LPS that will be in this new tank would be cyphastrea and a few chalice. I don't have a lot of zoas and I plan on having the new tank pretty much an Sps tank. I was just wondering if anyone here has or had a majestic angel.

I do. Hasn't touched my torches or hammers or sps. It's a beautiful fish. Hopefully happy in my new 200 shallow reef. Oh wait. I have a regal. But I think majestic is similar

Awesome I do have a clam tho and that's pretty much the only thing I would worry about but both my neighbour and brother have expressed interest in the clam if I do get the majestic angel and it starts picking at the clams mantle. I asked to see it eat which it went for pellets right away it also pretty thick too it's about 4" right now. Hopefully I can convince the wife to let me get it.

Get him. Has she seen him? That's how I got mine, once she saw how he looked. And I told him she was hers. No questions asked. She evens helps clean the glass now that she has a fish of her own

beautiful fish, sometimes I think that we should just go with out gut feeling and take some of the advise with a grain of salt. It sounds like you have an alternate plan in case he does bother. Now the big decision, do you like the fish better than the clam ?

I like my clam I have had it since it was only about 2" and it's almost doubled in size but seeing as my brother has offered me a $100 for the clam and I would still see it regularly I am leaning towards the fish that is if the wife goes for it. She is as much into the hobby as I am just I do more of the husbandry part. She is also the one who wants to upgrade to the bigger tank as well. So I am lucky there. I am gonna try and get her to go see it tonight. Not sure how she will feel about the possibility of re homing the clam if the majestic angel does bother it. Will keep you guys posted.

Not yet still working on the wife. There is 2 stores here that have them and both are beautiful fish. Just with a $200 price tag will take a bit of work with the wife.

don't let her see your post here, it might be harder to convince her..good luck..get the fish to follow her around the tank and tell her he likes her..

Lol I am actually pretty lucky when it comes to wife and hobby. She is very much into the hobby. She doesn't do as much of the maintenance but she does keep the tank glass clean occasionally cleans the skimmer cup and we have gotten some coral Cuz she liked it. We just came back from Cayo Santa Maria Cuba and she is thinking about going again soon for another week. I wont argue that as I like my vacations as well. We also have a grade a picasso clown Cuz of her so she doesn't mind spending money on our reef tank. Everytime we go with a bigger tank it's her idea too. We work opposite shifts so I just need a day when we both can go see it. I think when she sees it in person she will see the beauty in this fish.

No doubt she will. Or just do what I do, just bring it home and ask for forgiveness. Usually once they see how beautiful the fish is, they get over the shock of the dollar value quick.

I think you've got an understanding girl there. You don't have to trick her. You'll love the fish, Very bright

This I do and I know that she would love the fish but I am starting to learn that I get farther including her not buy now and ask for forgiveness later.
