Blue channel on maxspect razor went out last night. Figured it out i will have to replace one of the led panels to get it working properly untill then only white channel works. How bad is this for corals if it were to stay like this for a few days untill new pads come in.

Also i was thinking.

Its the pad on right in pics that broken. Could i remove that, take pad in middle and put on far right. Connect - from right to - on left. Connect + on right to + on left . It would be like the middle never existed. Could i use speaker wire to jump from pad on right to pad on left ?

Maxspects are known to blow pads. You'll need to keep the lights clean. Take them out occasionally to blow them out. Dust is the enemy with these lights.

You won't be able to bypass one of the pads. The light doesn't work like that.

Your corals will be fine for a few days while you wait to replace it. But don't hesitate. As it will affect coloration on the corals eventually.

Also one other thing. Depending how old your maxspects are. You may need to replace all pads. The new ones are a different colour temp than older versions. I think all the new pads are 15k. So if you have an older maxspect then the colour blend will be off by just replacing one pad.

It worked! Have 2 units . 48" is upgrade. 27" is the one with issue. Was talking with @Alexanneka and gave me the idea to jump b+ to b- on broken pad to alot it go complete circuit. This has givin me a temp fix. Now all blue works on good panels . On the bad panel only white works. Now im going to pht bad panel in middle good panels on outsides.

Jump from b+ to b- on broken panel.

Ordering 2 panels, keep a 16k in middle and 15k on outsides. Hopefully with overlap it wont be too noticeable and if it is then ill just get third.

Any idea if using that speaker wire as jumper cable is ok for now ?

Well atleast im kinda happy again. Light is good until i get new pads. Middle pad only has white but good enough for now. Still have that cable there as bypass.

Still wondering if this is safe. Still wondering if the speaker wire can handle the constant electricity. Im sure theres more going through it now then if it was music.

That speaker wire looks like it'll have no problem carrying that much current... appears to be the same gauge(or thicker) than the wire used to feed the panel. The bottleneck right now (not that it matters, really) would probably be the alligator clips, they usually dont provide such a great connection (but should be fine for this purpose).

...Just make sure the alligator clips can't touch anything metal (like the heatsink) that it could short out on.

Bought new t5 bulbs and ran them for 2 weeks. Loved the color but the t5 ballast died.
