Leds Hanging Off Water

How .high are you hanging your LEDs off the water, I guess it depends on the light and what you're keeping, my tank will have Lps mostly, a few Acros up top, tank is 23 inches to bottom, LEDs are dsunnys, some one suggested 12 inches off the water, sounds like alot to me but, I know LEDs can be very brite

I have mine 12" above the water which is what the manufacturer suggests. My LPS do great at that. I have a standard size 75g.
