Do what are your plans?
Hey Jewel, I have never used a kalk reactor or stirrer so can't help you there, but I have heard some horror stories.I'm going to be setting up a Talk reactor in ajacent to my ATO, have anyone had any experience with this type of set up, pros, cons, come on ,pistol I need to hear from you. Please
I just started doing this two weeks ago. The coralline algae is starting to pickup growth on the glass and it’s hard to removeIm running a tunze 5017 ato. I am going to mix the kalk in my RO top off water and elevate the pump using eggcrate, so it doesnt send any undissolved kalk into the DT. I plan to start using half dose and increase until the params stay steady.

So you aren't useing a kalkwasser reactor, I am going to use a walker stirrer then with a jbj ATO with two sensors run my ATO through the stirrer into my sump, I could put a float valve on the end just to make sure the kalk does not run aimlessly into the sumpIm running a tunze 5017 ato. do you have any snail?nope no stirrer, waste of money IMO, my tunze is equipped with a float valve if the water level is too high it will stop the pump
The tunze has an optical eye, the float valve is there for backup to shut the pump off if the eye fails. In the last ten years ive had the eye fail 4 or 5 times and the valve has never failed.they recommend to dose kalkwasser slowly.
Float valve is a bad idea to control it.
dosers are pretty cheap now and doing the job very well.
