Should I be taking my bio-pellets offline when Im dosing interceptor ? I would just add them to a bucket of tank water if so for 24 hours also is a 20 gallon water change going to be enough on a 100 gallon system. Plan on doing treatment 1 tonight, all other filtration willl be off skimmer will be running but no bubbles.  The 3 3rabs and 1 shrimp will be out if I can get him.

Ive talked to spyd and a couple others about treating my tank but have been very hessitant to do so.

dont ask me why i posted this section lol wasnt paying attention ... if the mods could move it to the diagnose, treatment section .. sorry

Interceptor treatment was pretty straight forward when I did it over a year or two ago.

Added 1/4 of the crushed tablet for each treatment
Put fresh carbon online about 24 hours later
I also did a 10 percent water change.

I didnt have pellets running at the time, but I know others who kept their pellets going.

Check melves reef, he has a step by step guide on his site.

no problem, you should be good to go.

Just pull out any hermits or snails you want to keep

my copperband shrimp had no ill effects and my turbos survived. my hermit population got crushed tho

Remove any carbon and gfo if you don't want to waste them,  just soak them in to water to rid of any parasites.  Also run your skimmer but take the air hose off so the water can over flow out.  Tip is to take the skimmer cup off and put a bag over the skimmer to reduce splashing water.

Your snails should be fine. They may get irritated but they will survive. Its the crabs and shrimp you have to worry about.

I never took BPs offline when doing my interceptor treatments, everything was fine.  I'd take your skimmer offline at least initially.

It can take up to 12 hours to get them all.

It's not a bad idea to take the 'infected corals out if you can, and run them in a tank with a heater and powerhead, and a stronger dose of interceptor.  I did this ages ago and only did 2 tank treatments.

I've started doing this for 12 hours on all new frags.  12 hours in a concentration of interceptor in a salt bucket with tank water, and then 15 mins in a bath of CoralRX (then a rinse in tank water then right in the tank). Of course I have hermits and shrimps, so I don't want to have to do the tank ever again if I can avoid it.  I'll say this...the interceptor bath will definitely get the little snails and pods even out of frags.  I find coralRX wouldn't get crabs and some pests out of frags...the interceptor sure does.

Sounds like you are on track.  My cleaner survived my first dose, but the second did him in unfortunately.  I tried to get him out before dosing to no avail.
