So I went and purchased a Koran angle. Beautiful in everyway, great looking fish small and tiny little guy. Full of piss and vinegar too! Was looking forward to him growing up and going thru his colour changes till one day last week I see him NIP, NIP, NIP!  :poop: :poop: :poop: :poop: :?
What have I done?
I placed a demon in my tank!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Stay away from my corals you little SOB!
I was creaming at him! Don't do it, don't look at those STAY AWAY FROM THAT! I swear he would just look at me straight in the eye swim over and NIP, NIP. You little bastard! I'll get you for that!
So I had to take all my acans, all my SPS and my frog spawn and move them out of his way! Seems his fav is the kena trees!
I devised a plan! To you tube I go! Fish traps! Thats the ticket! I'll catch you and sell yur ass! hahahahahhaha fishy can't out smart me!  8) ;D

Well, I'm beaten! :'( :'( :'(
I can catch everything and anything in the damn tank but him in the trap and he continues on his little quest to destroy anything and everything!

So last night I took all my mounted corals and placed them in the sump or on frag racks moved all my LR in the tank to one side and pinned him in the corner of the tank!  8) 8) 8)

Just waiting for my wife to get her coffee and his little ass is mine!

Any one want to buy a nice little Koran Angle? Very nice looking fish! Feeds on mostly corals but will take flaked foods or frozen if you place it near one of your favorites.

I guess one thing comes out of this! I learned to make sure to RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!  And I' get to redo the aquascape :? :? :? :?

Use the trick from Poseidon. Put its favorite coral in the trap (kenya trees). He sacrificed a blasto frag I think, but finally caught it in his DIY trap that way. Mind you I think it hurts less to sacrifice kenya tree then a blastos. If you are short, I have a ton of Kenya tree :D

Thank for the offer! And thats what I did but with the kena there are no shortages! LOL! and the trap he just looks at it a shakes his little ass at it and goes on his merry little way up and around! Like he knows exactly what its all about!

I'm surprised the LFS you bought it from didn't mention to you that they eat corals. Most Angels do. There are some that you can have better luck with... Regals, Flames, Coral Beauties, Lemonpeel, etc. but they are far from guaranteed not to nip on corals as Poseidon found out. I have a Flame Angel and it has been good so far.... But, you never know and it scares the crap out of me. lol. But, it is a fish I have all ways wanted so hopefully it pans out. I had a Copperband Butterfly that had a taste for SPS and LPS... I had to get rid of that mofo after it destroyed some nice corals. But, some people have good luck with them. It is all hit or miss with Butterflies and Angels. Yours, on the other hand, has a bad track record of coral munching.

Yeah, I've had those as well! The use with caution angels. I had a Koran about 15 years ago and never had an issue with it but one to another is a risk for sure. I just thought being the young one that he is I could train him away from any corals but nope not going to happen. So he is going to the QT tank till I either trade him or sell him!

Angels are a risk...always.  The safest way to have angels in a reef is in a MATURE sps only system.  They will nip and bit the tips but if you have a mature tank the corals can take it.  Other than that its a bad idea IMO.

I have tried a few pygmy angels with no luck.  Right now I have a bi-colour in my 60 cube.  I thought he was being good till one day I noticed my tyree green toadstool was close constantly out of the blue.  I never saw the angel do it but I know the signs.  Sure enough when I put the toadstool in my frag tank away from the angel it opened up the next day and has recovered.  Once an angel gets a taste of one of your corals they will go back and back for taste and you may not even see him do it.

Reefin,

I have had similar issues.....I'm sure we all have.....now I won't even take the chance on anything that is possible to nip.....I even had a small little yellow clown goby for quite a while and then one day it got a taste for some of my sps.....out it went! And now like I said I take no chances.....I just gotta find a nice foxface with a taste for Caulerpa! If that that don't do the trick then I might have to say bye bye to my CBB and invest in a YT or similar tang..... Hopefully all your corals make out ok and I'm sure your reef will be back together in no time! How is the torch btw? The single head frag I kept is splitting into three now.... :)

Hi Reef Hero!

Yeah just thought being so small he'ed be ok but nope! As far as coarls are concerned all good! The main ones I took away from him and he couldn't get to them too easy but the kenas are all over the place and some of the pallys he was nippin at but they are in good shape still! But I have redone the tank completely and moved things all around and changed the look so we'll see! I'll take a pic after everything settles down and gets happy again!

The torch is doing great! Looks really sweet in the tank and lovin it! Haven't noticed and new heads yet and good to hear yurs is grown!  ;D
