Ive decided to make my own mixture of fish food to make sure my fish are getting everything they need , this helps with not having to feed 4 different things a day and can now feed this mixture a few times a day . After reading up on what can be used Ive decided I will use what I have at home for now and see how it goes . Im hoping this will last longer then feeding each individually also
below is a list of of what was added :
whole blister package of enriched myisis
half blister package of cyclopeeze
2 sheets nori ( bought at grocery store )
half a bag frozen sallys brine shrimp
NLS pellets
1 shrimp shelled
1 scallop
small chunk of salmon
1 tblspn reef roids
1. rinsed out the brine and myisis with rodi water together in a tupper wear container 4 times till water was clear then drained water out
2. took 2 sheets nori soaked in rodi water took them out ,then chopped finely with a chef knife
3. chopped up shrimp, scallop , salmon to smaller peices to fit in blender better
4. put all in the blender and added reef roids and cyclopeeze and NLS pellets and blended
5. dump into a plastic freezer bag and flattened it out as much as possible and into freezer
This was the first attempt with stuff I already had at home , the next time I will be adding small head of broccelli , a leaf of romain lettuce , multi vitamins ( need to find it first , not sure which type ) , clam , squid or octopus .... when i add these next time I will also be using more of each specific food . My goal is to get my fish a healthy as possible consuming everythign they need without feeding 4 types of food a day .
Another thing I have been thinking of adding to this mixture is salmon eggs , ( ROE ) but Im not sure if taking freshwater eggs and adding them to marine fish food is a good idea , I have read poeple have done it but they could have been salmon for the ocean and not from the lakes , salmon are both fresh/saltwater species born in fresh water lakes and swim out to the ocean for most there life ( usually 8 years ) only returning back to where they were born in fresh water to lay there eggs and die . if any other members have some knowledge about adding these please I would love to hear your opinoins .
