you wouldnt need to "fix" the lines.... just leave the valve there... ,, it can stay there forever..

Just need to run a 12" straight line off a tee. Stick a shut off valve, then the 1/4" fitting. When you move, shut it off, remove ro unit, and done

I put an extra tap in my laundry room and put the hose adapter on it:
