Hey Guys,

So last march I moved,,, I grabbed an 80gal from big als as a temp tank,,, well that temp tank might be around for awhile now.. but I really want a sump.. and it's not drilled... there is no way to go in behind to drill.. I could drill from the sides... but it won't look as nice,,, whats the hang on back overflows looking like these days? back in the day I heard some good horror stories, any recommendations?

From just researching it before going with a drilled system i came to the conclusion that a "CPR" with an aqua toms lifter on it to keep it primed was the safest approach, cant say i tried it just remember reading alot of reviews. Hope that points you in the correct direction

Good luck!

Well...not to self advertise but I do have an unopened Eshopps PF1000 Overflow for sale. Theyre more or less the same in function to the CPR overflows.

How much? And have you used a hang on back before?
I was hoping to get 80 bucks for it since its unopened and it retails for 120. I have used this model in the past before. I did not use the recommended set up. I had it set up as a herbie standpipe with a gate valve and a emergency stand pipe. I used return pump that exceeded the 1000 GPH rating.

My 125g 6' tank is not drilled, have a "CPR" with an aqua toms lifter on it for overflow for about 4 years now. Before the CPR I had the Eshopps for 2 years but I wasn't happy with the "U" pipes, I think they can not handle as much flow as the CPR. And the air can get trapped in on the top of the U pipes, reducing the flow.
So far no problem with this system. I designed the sump to be able to handle the extra water in case of power failure, and the display can also handle the extra water from the sump's return compartment, in case the overflow stops for some reason.
