I run my HC GFO through a 5uM filter sock, this is what I get after 3 weeks.

So when you say straight out of the reactor into a sock. Do you mean that you are not putting the GFO in a bag in your reactor.

I had tried to put the GFO in the reactor, not in a bag and run it straight into my tank, well you know what happened, my display was very brown in a very short time, like 20 seconds.

I thought what have I done, oops. I immediately took the GFO out, cleaned the reactor and I had some new Carbon, put it in a bag, into the reactor and it took about 2 hours and it was all good again.

I would love to run the GFO in the reactor with out the bag, then straight into a filter bag, that would be great, would a 100 micron be okay.

You should never run GFO in a bag. It will clump and most of it will be useless. To run GFO, you put it in the reactor and rinse it through until the water runs clear before adding it to your tank. From there, the OP is suggesting adding a 5uM filter sock to the output of the reactor. 10 micron is probably too big to catch the particles as seen above.

rowaphos is notoriously messy, could explain your tank going cloudy if you didnt rinse it.

What is it then
RowaPhos was developed in Germany for treating main water supplies. RowaPhos is a patented, man made ferric hydroxide material chemically engineered for the efficient removal of phosphates, arsenic and silicates from fresh and saltwater.

RowaPhos recommends that you use a small quantity and replace regularly rather than a large amount and replace infrequently.
