I only freshwater dip my fish if theyre in really bad shape from a infestation of some sort to give them a little relief. Its not a cure for anything and QT methods should still be followed.
Freshwater dips can be very stressful and not all that effective. Little reef keeper hit the nail on the head no dip is guarantee so always qt. i usually medicate new fish for a while with a couple different products before introduction. This clears them of any internal and external perisites plus gets them used to eating in a new environment.
sorry for not making my first post clear enough. I meant to ask freshwater dip in addition to QT. My clown has been in QT for 2 weeks now with no meds. I plan to FW dip him before putting him into DT.
A FW dip is usually used at the beginning of your QT period prior to the fish going in to qt, or between tanks when your using the TTM to get rid of ICH. Full freshwater dips are extremely stressful for saltwater fish
