Frags n bags

I'm just curious what the lifespan of a frag in transit is?  Assuming water temp and physical damage arent an issue?  Obviously the sooner the better! Anyone receive a frag that was in transit longer than two days? Healthy?

Corals are obviously shipped in from halfway around the world to N.America, which usually takes a day or so.

But these are usually colonies. 2 days for a small frag in a tiny bag might not bode well....

I am super sketchy about 1 day, let alone 2 days...

after that time period with no light I can only imagine it will have discolored, but with some TLC it probably could come around I bet?

I did a shipment to Dale last week that FedEx screwed up on. Some zoas and a anemone. It took over 2 days to get to him, but after he received all were still alive but obviously not in good shape. I'm thinking 2 days is fine as long as temperature is good and corals still in water.

2 days was fine for the zoos but i think it was pushin it for the nem.... lps n sps..  i dunno.. pure oxygen in the bag might make the difference... by the way..im willing to accept any corals anyone wants to send me to try diff methods.... for the good of science...

IMO 2 days is not that long.....assuming of course that the frag was cut from a healthy and thriving coral, the frag has healed and is doing well, the temp remains constant at around 78, the water stays in bag lol, and free of physical damage. I used to think that corals shipped as colonies would do better but it was pointed out to me that this is not always true. A colony will demand more from the water it is in than a frag will.
Lots of my frags have been 24 hours in transit and one was over 48 hours.....all arrived well and have been thriving ever since.

It depends so much on how their bagged, the water quality and other circumstances such as weather, leaks etc

I think the biggest thing to worry about is how healthy is the frag they are shipping to begin with. In this weather I wouldn't be to concerned about it taking 2 days, like mentioned above, some of corals come from the other side of the world.
