You can also use EPDM rubber as a sound dampening pad. Places like Rubberline in Kitchener will cut a pad to the size and thickness that you want.

I used them to get some red rubber pads cut for the bottom legs of my metal stand and it works great for not marking up the floor.

Also, BRS sells some nice sound dampening pads for a very reasonable price.

Not very good reviews on brs pads.  But apparently mag 7s are notoriously loud, so maybe can't do much about that noise.  Thanks a lot Poseidon! Haha

Just occurred to me... does sump size affect noise level?  I've got a mag 7 and vertex in250 in a 25g sump. Maybe the small size is magnifying sound?  I know, sump is too small, but it's the biggest i could fit through cabinet doors.  Plan on drilling and linking 1 or 2 more together in future.
