Just wondering if looking in the tank at night with a normal  flashlight scares or harms the corals? We have zoos, polyps, pulsing zenas, and mushrooms.  I know I wouldn't like a light in my face in middle of the night so I try not to shine it right on the corals. Usually look around for 5 minutes or so, and my wife looks around for a bit, not sure how long she does it.

for sure it harms fish and corals prob puts stress on all of them which causes problems later. i suggest just go pickup 2 single moonlight units they have them at most fishstores there about 15 each the fish and corals like this it mimics the moonlight plus can promote spawning in corals and fish

Another plus to moonlights is it helps keep jumpers from carpet surfing...... ;D
