With some advice from @reefdiver and @Winks. Spent almost my entire family day doing some much needed tank maintenance and watching the new BRS series. Have been battling algae issues for sometime now. Gave up on chemical route and throwing money at problem. Stopped in at substantial marine. With Ian's advice i tore tank down scrubbed rock did a massive water change and put it back togeather. Definitely not going to be a overnight fix but hopfully gets me back on track. Before i started had turf. Hair, Neomeris Annulate, and start of bubble algae.

There you go! getting to the root of the problem is the best way to go. Get rid of the algae first. Then find out why it was there in the first place. Hopefully with the great start you have, it will be very rewarding in the end.

Did some testing today.
0 phospate in tank ro holding container and salt mix container
Nitrate 50 in tank
30 in mixing container
0 in ro holding container
Mixed up batch in 5 gallon pail 2

Thinking mu mixing container is where my nitrate problem is stemming from. Thanks to @Winks and @reefdiver for your help and also @Salty Cracker for mentioning containers. Would have never thought the nitrates were coming my mixing container. Guess im going shopping for new container.

Whats everyone use for mixing container?

I actually use the 5 gallon pails the salt comes in, I figure it should be fairly safe, but I just do 5 gallon water changes every other day, instead of doing one big one like I used to.

I have one of those olive drums with mixed up RO/DI water. I've tested water sitting in it for contaminants, never had anything show up.
