Its a sad day.  I noticed my maxima clam gapping a little this week.  Well today it was dead.  Ive had that clam for over 6yrs.

It was a nice one. ..kinda sucks.  Only plus side is i get a bit of sand bed back.

Just thought i would share.  Ive got no idea why it died.

That sucks Darryl!

I came home from work one day a few years back, and found my purple tang chowing down on what what was left of the maxima clam I HAD.

Any signs of fish going rogue and picking on it?

No ...I really dont think it was fish or anything.  I think it just got some kinda bacterial infection or died from old age.  Just guesses really though.

I had some sad news too yesterday..... "Spaz", my wife's prized Powder Brown Tang, jumped to its death yesterday while we were out.... I found him laying on the carpet. Not sure what would have caused him to jump. I have never had a Tang jump on me before.....  :(

Are you using a powerhead to heat your tank?

My condolences...seriously

Once you've had anything in your care for long enough you tend to think it'll always be there...until it isn't.

I recently read that the Sohal only lives for about 10 years max. (accurate? who knows) But just got me thinking that in a year or so he will be gone....

Sorry...I'm getting old and too sentimental.

Sorry Darryl, never been able to keep a clam alive for more than a few months myself, gave up after the 3rd or 4th one.
Always feels bad to lose something out of our tanks, no matter what it is

Thanks guys......it sucked a little but not a huge deal.  It isnt the first thing that died in my tank and wont be the last.  I also feel good knowing it wasnt anything I did.

Could have been worse.... Like my $150 snack for my Tusk Fish  :? He made short work of my Blue Squamosa. It was gone within 3 days of putting it in my system. The funny part is my Ultra Maxima is the same size and it has not been touched whatsoever.... I don't understand that one but I am sure happy about it! lol.
