Will my tank cycle if the rock n sand were already live directly from another persons tank. I tested ammonia last night n it read 0.5 ppm. I want to start my transfer sooner than later but if my ammonia is goin to rise I won't do it.

you should still get a small cycle but not a big one and it wont take long.

odds are the sand will be your biggest culprit for a cycle if it was disturbed. Remember there were areas that had Aerobic bacteria and areas that likely had Anaerobic bacteria. When they get mixed the various bacteria can't live in the other areas and they die. I would treat it like a new system and proceed with caution.
