I know they say bio pellets don't help and can even possibly make it worse.  But honestly, within a month of running biopellets my cyan is gone. 0. zilch

Most say it takes 6 weeks for pellets to start working, every tank is different, sometimes it lets go and sometimes it don't.

I've seen very successful tanks with Cyano, But not to the extent that I have. I'll clear it up in time. thanks for your comments.

3 days of lights out it will be gone but will eventually come back if the underlying problem isn't resolved. imo lights out is better than adding chemicals.

O boy that doesn't sound good, Yes I know the problems, It'll be a little while yet before I can upgrade my Ro/DI unit. Couple more weeks then changes will be made.

What do you mean by upgrade your rodi?
I battled cyano for a bit.....lights out is a temp. Fix..... Will it make cyano disappear? Yes, but so will just having lights off for the small time between your lighting schedule each day. Cyano is usually hardly visible when lights first come on, but is very evident after lights have been on for a while each day.
Making sure your rodi water is top notch is very important......I have found that replacing DI media helps a lot even if tds is reading zero.
Are you running bio pellets?

I will, As soon as I can I'll be running Pellets, Gfo and Carbon. My Skimmer isn't terrific, probably a good back up at best. I'll be on a spending spree soon I gotta get rid of the rock I have in my sump to make room for the reactors, not much, Like 30 pounds.

CHEMICLEAN!
There are hundreds if not thousands of species of cyano, the same species can respond differently to the same treatment in different tanks, your not doing your tank any favors by fighting a losing battle with toxic cyano.
Chemiclean it, get rid of it, work on your husbandry and upgrades, the cyano might return and it might not, there is probably a species of cyano that has evolved to live on MB7, you may have got your cyano on a frag or a piece of live rock or something, I'm sure that thousands of people have used chemiclean with no bad effects.
Stop worrying about what the reef police think, they don't know shit!
Cyano has been around for a billion years and you nor anybody else on this forum is going to wipe it out.

They don't? Reef Police!!!, I've used Chemi Clean before and I liked it, I will get some and try what you said, Not sure about the Pellets. I thought they were for Nitrate. I know I should be running GFO and Carbon. That's a gimmee. And I will get to it when I can.

Pellets are for both but more effective at NO3 but you C N and P for them to work so you end up with some PO4 that needs to be exported in another manner like GFO.

Update on the Cyano problem, I used the Chemi Clean but I didn't use an Air stone like they mentioned on the instructions. ( I didn't read it Duh) It cleared up in 3 days, The tank looks beautiful again. I changed out my bulbs and am running a dual BRS Reactor with Carbon and HC-GFO. My Skimmer has been updated to the Vertex Omega 130 and my RO/DI unit has been up graded to the Vertex 100. I bought a new scraper over the holidays a Kent and wow you can clean the whole tank in 15 min. I also picked up a MP40 and a Reef Keeper Controller.

Be careful of light shock to your corals, the chemi clean really clears up the water, plus the new bulbs. I burnt some tips when I used chemi clean.

Holy upgrades Batman, you are really moving along, it's nice to see the cyano GONE eh!, and yes you need to be careful with the lighting with the water being clearer from the carbon and new bulbs, you might bleach some stuff.

I don't have much to bleach, LOL I picked up an Orange Torch, a War Coral and another Chalice that I can't remember and they are on the Sand Bed, One problem I did have was I have a Purple Digitata and it was 8 inches directly in front of the Mp40 and it started to turn white. I moved it and it looks a bit better but I thought it would of been ok.

Another thing I should mention is that I did a 20percent water change And the Marine land 300 is now my back up skimmer and is not for sale. I've learned not to get rid of things and to keep them just in case.

I have a backup for just about everything, even my controller.
