Wow this topic blew up lol. I have my tank in the basement. My main issue is the mag 24 I have running the skimmer. It's a heat pig and good for over 3 degrees on the tank temp. My total swing is 77.5 up to 83.5 everyday. The halides are obviously adding heat, but I've only had my apex since I switched to halides so I had no idea what the temp was in the tank but there were days it was like bath water. And that was with my LED on lol. My heaters rarely come on. My basement is actuAlly cooler in the summer Than winter.

By taking my pumps out of the sump I think it will solve some issues. I will actually be running LESS power over the new build. I have 4 250w halides on right now because of the center brace in my 150. The 260 will be euro braced so it can have 3 lights spaced across it. It's also shallower by 5" so I can have the lights higher AND im going to have an extraction fan in the fish room to battle humidity and heat. PLUS I'll be running 150+ gallon sump so that's about 400 system gallons vs 175 gallons.

Ok Reef Keeper, A Chiller is a great idea if you can find one cheap. Or make your own. Can't be that hard if you've got an old Fridge could double as a Beer Fridge.
love that idea cool tank and beer I think if my tank stays high this summer I am going to go the small bar fridge way. wife wont complain about the extra power used if shes got a few cold beer bonus
