Hey Everybody....

Just wanted to share an experience I dont see often.  Some of you may have read my previous post about going on vacation and returning to a tank that had the GFO/Carbon, bio-pellets and skimmer not working for week.  Also the GFO/carbon was ready to be changed out and the biopellet reactor needed pellets.  All of this caused a little browning in some SPS.....only a few but I could tell my northern delight, granulosa and maybe one or two more.  Well since I have been home I performed a water change, changed out the GFO/Carbon, and added more bio-pellets.

The crazy thing is I can really tell the difference already.  Infact I could tell a tiny bit last week but this week (2 weeks since) I can really notice....especially on the northern delight....much better.  The reason I'm sharing is I rarely see positive change happen this fast.  In fact for a little while there I was scared it was happening too fast as well all know bad things can happen when you change things too fast.  My bulbs are getting old and I thought to change those at the same time but Im glad I held off now.  I will save that one for another month or two.

I might pick up the feedings here soon.

I'm still running the first pack of vertex pellets I started with almost a year ago.  I don't have any problems with the tank, but MAN you would think they would get used up a lot faster...

I religiously swap out the GFO and carbon once a month. Maybe that has something to do with it, I'm not sure.

It may be the placebo effect but I swear to goodness that sometimes I see a positive change within 12 hours of doing an overdue water change.  I think when you stare at your tank long enough (i.e. put in many hours of careful observation), it isn't out of the realm of possible to notice change for the positive.  The change could be dramatic to a seasoned eye - but might be incredibly subtle to the inexperienced.

Either way, glad to hear things are looking up!

That is great news! It didn't look to bad when I was there. A couple browning corals but it seems you have that resolved. The bacterial bloom you had was incredible! I haven't seen that before! Very cool. And the fish seemed to really enjoy it! lol.
