So as of lately Im ready to toss this hanna checker in the garbage !!!!!!!!! I have been using it for 3 weeks now and dosing BRS two part according to what readings I have been getting , for almost 3 weeks the checker was reading  what I thought to be normal readings I would always test twice one after another to  make sure I was getting the right readings . Until the past week it said calcuim was at 580 which makes no sense because I was always kicking around the 480ppm range , so I held off testing for 3 days and tested again this morning 3 different times and this is what I got  1) 536 2) 481 3) 564 ... I am kinda freaking out a bit and ready to stomp the shit out of this checker . My alk checker has always been faithful aswell as the phosphate checker never any issues .

So according the to hanna calcuim checker my calcuim has not really dropped below 500 pmm in more then a week . So i guess what Im getting at is , is there anyone in sarnia with a sailfert test kit I could use for a day or even if you have a hanna calcuim checker that you get good readings , I would like to compair readings and see where I sit , as of now Im ready to shove this checker up someones ars.

If I had to guess it's the water you are using for the test, if it's not absolutely 100% ZERO 0TDS you will get high readings.  Like, there can't be a bit of anything in it.  Also, make sure you're only putting .1ml of tank water sample in, it's like 3 drops or something!

I'll agree it's a frustrating checker, but when I -finally- figured it out, it comes in really close to the 2 salifert ones I have.  Call hanna, they're actually really good with customer support.  They were the ones that figured out the 0TDS problem with me (it was always reading off the chart). Oh and use a brand new battery, not the one that came with it, some LFS guys swap them around because the packs aren't sealed on the shelf.

I had one also and its a pos. I got rid of it cuz I had 4 different test kits and I can use all of them at the same time and 3 are all around the same and hana was also different. Plus its a pain to use. I got rid of it along time ago.

When I talked to hanna I mentioned to them that they should seal the packs, since LFS guys were pawing through the packages, taking reagents and batteries, so there's a chance yeah, you got a bum one that someone returned, you never know.  They agreed that they never thought about guys taking bits and pieces (one of my kits had 4 reagents and no battery...was supposed to have 25 reagents and a AAA...)

Oh and the instruction card is supposed to be under the plastic insert on the top or bottom, if it's gone, then yeah go back where you got it, you got a pilfered one.  It's the most difficult one to use, but mine matches faily closely to my 2 salifert ones, so I know mine works, but then again mine at least had the instructions (and they are difficult for this test).
