Checked some levels today in my newer tank.
Alk 9.5 ish.
Calc was 551 on hanna checker
ph is a little low, but always is in this tank. 7.8
Is the calcium being high a big deal.

Mine is high as well and main dt ph always around the same at 7.8  alkalinity that's more important and in line with calcium and magnesium levels as far as I know.
But I keep my calcium high because of the corals and all seems to be Ok.
I just kinda go by eye now. If it looks like everything is happy I leave it alone.

I dont usually do much testing anymore. I was bored and got a hanna checker so thoaught i would check it out.
I cant remember last time i tested for ammonia, nitrite or nitrates
Everything looks happy, so its good.
Just never checked calc and didnt know what I should be seeing.
Thanks

I always thought Hanna was pretty accurate?
Keep in mind I don't own one just from hearsay. I use Api the most sophisticated testing equipment on earth. Lol.
But I thought it was Hanna, salifert and red sea for the best test kits?

I think the red sea calcium and Alk kits are fine. Their mag one supposedly read high from what users were saying last year, melev included.

Salifert has issues with their Alk kit years ago but now all their kits are top notch.

Only Hanna checker I've read that is accurate is their phosphorous one. Advanced aquarist tested it against a $3500 unit and numbers were almost dead on. Their Alk unit was like 10%+  off
