Bulbs For T5 Ho Fixture

i have a T5 fixture I got used for my frag tank. It seems the sps and even zoos aren't doing so well in there. It's a 4 bulb fixture that's about 5" off the water, which puts it about 12" above the corals.

Any recommendations? I've only used radions before.

is the frag tank a stand alone system or tied into your main?
Age of the bulbs?
flow?
etc...

Flow is from a mag 5 return. Stand alone. No idea on bulb age. It's an aquatic life T5 HO. 159 watts.

Well that leaves a lot to trouble shoot then. Get new bulbs, then post all your water parameters and tank age.

I would change the bulbs regardless of what the guy told me. That's the first step. Secondly how is the water, and how long has it all been set up. Was the frag tank cycled? Or is it a fresh start up?

If its the light u got from me id def change out those bulbs.

I got new bulbs today. It's a bare bottom with egg crate so there's really no way to cycle it. I've been using some old tank water mixed with fresh rodi saltwater. I'm wondering what the best way to operate this thing is lol. Should I get black egg crate? This white stuff is gonna be real ugly real fast

U have a sump with liverock tho dont you?

There seems to be more questions than answers at this point.

Start at the beginning and change the lights.

Did a water change and changed the bulbs. Added some snails and a little tiny yellow tang. Cleaned the glass and everything is already beginning to look better.
