Does BRS Reef Saver rock need to be cycled like other dry rock? It says on their website

“This rock is 100% free of nuisance algae and pests which can cause complete tank shut downs and is guaranteed to be free of apitasia, bubble algae, parasitic isopods, mantis shrimp, acro eating flat worms, little red bugs, fire worms, predatory nudibranchs, pyramidellid snails and other common pests.”

So besides rinsing off in some RO Water, is there a need to cycle this?

you will need to cycle it, like any dry rock to establish nitrifying bacteria colonies to keep your system stable.

It should be clean and ready to go.

I did purchase some BRS Pukani rock a few years ago, and I did a short soak in muriatic acid, then let it circulate in a water/vinegar mixture for a few weeks. It did contain some dried up organics, so I wanted to ensure it was clean for a fresh start without any issues that could lead to phosphates problems.
