Bought a yellow tang from the LFS on tuesday fresh from a new shipment didnt even touch there tank took it home looked great for 5 days now out comes the white spots. I know I should have QT but it was the last fish I was going to introduce to my system. 2 clowns 1 flame angel 1 cleaner shrimp 2 peppermint shrimp and now I see the flame angel has some starting on his fins just noticed it tonight. I dont know what to do I dont have a QT tank so my only option is to medicate.  Ive been told Herbtana but that will take a week to get shipped to me what do I do looking for some serious help here guys .

If there is no coral in the tank.... could try hypo.  Take the shrimps and snails out and lower the specific gaity to 1.009 for 6 weeks.

there is a new product out made by polylabs called "medic".  it is reef safe and invert safe.
I just finished using it on my reef tank to help cure velvet disease.  Saved the last 3 of my tangs.  Wish i had known about this product sooner.

if he's eating then just leave him be. Keep feeding him food soaked in garlic so he's got the energy to fight off the disease.

+1,
The fish have immune systems built in
They can fight disease if their strong enough and eating.

I had a friend tell me that every system has ich in it. And if stressed or sick from some other cause, your fish will get it.

I'm inclined to believe him. I got a bunch of fish in once from a healthy tank, put them in my tanks and a few started developing ich, i didnt do anything but feed and watch them, within a few weeks they all fought it off and looked great.

just make sure it is ich!
thats the problem i had,  i went by the same theory,  thought it was ich,  fed well, extra water changes, etc.  had i realized it wasnt ich and started to treat sooner i likely could have saved more of the fish.

if the scales on the fish start looking pale or shabby, get on some treatment right away.  ich and velvet are very hard to differentiate from.

again, +1, proper diagnostics are essential for any disease.

It is most likely ich. Tangs are very prone to it. Even if you QT a Tang, you may find it gets ich within days of putting it into your display. The sress is going to happen regardless. The biggest thing is just to male sure it is eating. Just keep feeding it and it will fend off the ich on its own. To help, you cam buy pureed garlic from the grocery store (normally found in the spice isle) and mix a little in with the flakes or pellets you are feeding. Seems to help boost their immune systems.

My yellow tang had ich when I first introduced him. If he is not stressing out hiding , swimming around doing weird maneuvers or not moving at all then I would say your fine as long as he is still eating and being active. It's when you notice change in behaviors and eatin habits when you should really be worried. If he is bright yellow no signs of heavy breathing you should be good. Get him nice and fat he will fight it off. I've had a few cases of ich and never once tested specifically for ich, I just fed a lot got them fat and healthy and they fought it off themselves.

I agree. I had what i thaought was ich in my one tank. They were newly introduced fish. It came and went for about a month.
The fish all acted normal, just a few of them had white spots. I didnt treat them at all.
It eventually went away, and has never come back.
