Anyone using LEP instead of LED?

Didn't know there was such thing until I read this article. It seems to be a very technical thread comparing the growth of corals under both Light Emitting Plasma and Light Emitting Diode.

its very YELLOW looking. It is adjustable though. The more you turn it down (and decrease light output) the BLUER it gets.

Its popular in the hydroponics industry and a couple companies do market the light towards aquarists but the costs are still very high. It's approx $1500 for a single unit which has the coverage of a single metal halide.

Neat technology none the less though i think they missed their market by not coming down in price before LEDs did.

I believe Cherry Corals does or did use it at one point over their tanks.
